#dbest cool gadgets for dad

Father’s Day is coming up next weekend. Haven’t gotten a gift for that special man in your life yet? It’s no secret that men love cool gadgets. Below are some of my favorites that, from my personal experience, are dad-approved!

Product Description Price Reviews/Giveaways
a new coffeemaker!

Keurig Mini

Make a fresh cup of gourmet coffee or tea in less than three minutes with this single-serve brewing system. The unit uses Keurig’s patented K-Cups, which offer over 70 varieties of pre-measured gourmet coffee and tea from a variety of premium brands. Its patented one-touch technology ensures precise control over the brewing, without the hassle of grinding beans, measuring coffee, handling filters, or cleaning up. Simply open the lid, insert a K-Cup, close the lid, and push the button. I like the mini because it’s the perfect size for the office! $94.99 My Wee View and Two of a Kind are both giving away a special edition Keurig! Giveaways end on 6/25 and 7/5, respectively. What do they have to say about it?

“I thought it would be interesting to bring this machine to work to get some input from my co-workers, and everyone that tried it loved how easy it was and also loved the variety of choices. Everyone got to pick their favourite coffee or tea, french vanilla and caramel cream were probably the most popular choices.” – My Wee View

“We couldn’t be more happier with our Keurig Machine. It is really quiet and we each get the flavor of coffee that we want without wasting the rest of a pot. I have enjoyed trying out the different brands of K-cups. My new favorite flavor is Caramel Vanilla Cream!” – Two of a Kind

a new remote!

Logitech Harmony 650 Remote

After a busy day, you just want to drop down on the couch, press a button and start the show. But, juggling all the remotes and equipment settings can be anything but relaxing. This remote is simple to set up and use. Its color screen shows the commands you need for the devices you’re using, and can even provide help if you need it. It replaces a pile of remotes with the only one you need! We have an older version, going on a couple of years now, and it does not disappoint! $99.99 “If he has 400 remote controls in various locations all over your family room… it’s time to upgrade to a universal remote control… I always say if I can use it, you can use it! I find this remote easy to set up and easy to use. The Harmony® is lightweight and slim and in my opinion would make any gadget-loving Dad happy this Father’s Day.” – A Bittersweet Existence
an e-reader!

Kindle

If you’re looking to buy an e-reader, the Kindle is the best of its kind. At 10.2 ounces, it’s lighter than a typical paperback and as thin as most magazines. Barely a third of an inch in profile, it fits perfectly in your hands. My husband has one and loves it. He can read on a single charge for up to 1 week with wireless on, or 2 weeks with it off. New books can be downloaded in less than 60 seconds! The best part? No monthly wireless bills or commitments. $259 “I love my Kindle. Good selection of books, comfortable to hold, good service.” – says @RazManda on Twitter.

a video camera!

the new FlipSlide HD

Flip SlideHD is the all-new camcorder from Flip Video that lets you shoot, show and share HD video. SlideHD captures up to four hours of HD video and features a slideable 3-inch widescreen for instant watching. Plus, it stores up to 12 hours of content! I have a Flip Mino and never leave home without it! Love that it fits in my pocket! $279.99 Kingdom First Mom is giving a Flip SlideHD away, but hurry up and enter! Giveaway ends tonight, 6/15!

She says: “I have actually owned a Flip camera for a couple of years. A fairly frugal alternative to fancy camcorders, these puppies are fantastic! All the videos on my You Tube Channel are filmed with a Flip. But this device [the FlipSide HD] is their latest and greatest version.”

the ultimate gadget!

iPad

Apple calls this “a magically and revolutionary product” and I have to agree. It’s an amazing way to experience the web, email, photos, and video, all with just the touch of a finger. Small enough to carry in my purse, it’s very portable and the battery is long-lasting. There are thousands of apps made just for iPad, and you can also run the almost 200,000 iPhone apps, with more coming every day. $499 “Yes, it may look like a big iPhone or iPod touch, but it’s so much more than that. Hard to describe, really. Should you buy an iPad? It depends on what you’re looking for… if you want an eReader, get a Kindle. If you want a portable computer, buy a netbook or a laptop. If you want something that can do a little bit of everything, buy an iPad. It’s in a category all its own.” – Riding With Ho Hands (my blog)

Go read the rest of my review of the iPad and enter to win one over at One Savvy Mom. Giveaway ends 6/25.

I would have added the new iPhone 4 to the list, available for pre-order today, but it looks like AT&T may not have been prepared for SO many orders! It does look very cool, though – maybe just wait a couple of days before placing your order. What are you getting your dad/husband/grandpa for Father’s Day?
