Apparently even wearing 3D glasses on the street is cool...
3D seems to be the latest craze.
From 3D HDTVs, projectors, and Blu-ray players, to computers and gaming consoles, the 3D experience doesn’t have to be limited to an IMAX theater anymore. However, only a handful of 3D movies are slated for release this year, and there aren’t any 3D TV channels at this time, so I’m not falling for it. Yet.
Don’t get me wrong, my husband and I love gadgets and new technology, especially when it’s related to television. We were the first on our block to get FIOS installed and bought an HDTV very early on. Then came HD DVD versus Blu-ray… and well, let’s just say we got burned.
It’s been several years, so I don’t recall exactly why, but we chose HD DVD. Maybe because the name made more sense, or because it was the first on the market. Either way, we definitely lost money, and that experience has left me a little hesitant to dive in headfirst into new technology the moment it’s released.
Back to 3D. Samsung seems to be leading the pack, with a variety of 3D TVs and a 3D-capable Blu-ray Disc Player already on the market. Plus, the company just announced a partnership with Avatar director James Cameron to promote its 3D TV products, so it looks like Samsung is well on its way to being the 3D “king of the world!”
